I have been involved in the construction, remodeling, and retrofit industry for over 18 years. As a contractor working on older homes in New England, I began paying attention to building science issues and realized I needed to make an adjustment to the line of work I was in if I was going to fix problems I was coming across. I started to find answers, and for better or worse more questions, by attending and later presenting at BPA (at the time Affordable Comfort Inc.) conferences. Those conferences steered me towards working for a Home Performance contractor, leading install work as well as performing audits, contractor support for state programs, training, and education for HVAC and retrofit contractors in various forms.
I now focus on business development and building science for Greenfiber®, the largest cellulose manufacturer in North America. While cellulose insulation has always had a strong presence in the weatherization and Home Performance industry, I see our new product platform, SANCTUARY®, by Greenfiber®, drawing attention to what matters most to retrofit customers today.
We have all seen a great deal of change this year and have spent a great deal of time at home, which is our area of expertise. More than ever, I believe people see how important our homes are. While my company continues to focus on the concepts that we have all worked hard to quantify, like energy efficiency, expand into newer concepts like carbon emissions, I look forward to emphasizing the things that bring life back into balance – a sense of well-being through a quiet, healthy comfortable and safe home environment.
I joined BPA when it first launched in 2019 because I’ve always appreciated and supported the efforts of the associations that preceded it. I look forward to connecting and interacting with members in my role at Greenfiber. Members I see as sharing the same passion for making buildings, in particular our homes, what they really ought to be.
