Breakfast Roundtable Discussion at the Association’s 2017 National Conference
On Tuesday, March 21, 7:15am - 8:15am at the Association’s 2017 National Home Performance Conference, you are invited to join your fellow conference attendees for breakfast and discussion during the Conference Breakfast Roundtable. The Breakfast Roundtables will be a moderated, informal discussion of a topic among a small group. Breakfast will be provided in the room, so bring your ideas and discuss these topics over a cup of coffee with your peers from across the country! Table Topics Include:
Automating Verification of Installed HVAC Performance
moderated by Courtney Moriarta
Studies suggest nearly two-thirds of residential HVAC systems underperform because of improper installation, resulting in increased energy costs and reduced comfort. Consequently, homeowners spend more for less comfort! Through the Home Improvement Catalyst, DOE has launched efforts to make optimizing and verifying HVAC installations more accessible. Join our discussion as we unpack the problem and explore opportunities for cost-efficient strategies, including how monitoring and verification tools can streamline delivery of installed performance.
eCommerce for Home Performance: Creating the New Energy Efficiency Marketplace
moderated by Frank Rapley
How can local utilities, Home Performance contractors, manufacturers, and retailers create an easy to use cloud-based platform that helps connect consumers to energy efficiency tools, information, services, and products in their local area? Join this roundtable to discuss and learn more.
Games & Simulations for Adult Learning
moderated by Jeffrey Granger
Beginning in the late 1950’s, the use of simulations became a staple of business, medical education, and corporate training. For the past 25+ years, education researchers have been investigating how to facilitate learning in our classrooms through games, simulations, and problem solving. This roundtable will focus on the latest techniques and expected outcomes for training our multi-generational learners.
Pay for Performance: Applications for Home Performance
moderated by Emily Levin
Pay-for-performance (P4P) P4P programs reward energy savings on an ongoing basis as the savings occur by examining data from a building’s energy meters, rather than providing upfront payments to fund energy-saving measures. This discussion will cover review P4P program types and experiences, and discuss how P4P might be applied to Home Performance programs by relying on metered, rather than modeled, savings to calculate energy savings and rewarding projects based on the amount of energy saved.
Plug Load Management: Virgin Territory for EE
moderated by Janice Boman
What are the options for saving energy with electronic surveillance? Bring your experience, questions, and engage in this lively discussion.
The Smart Home (and what it means for you!)
moderated by Claire Miziolek
Join national smart home experts to discuss the true implications that this trend may have on your programs and activities. Join a casual discussion to talk through the hype and get down to the real opportunities.
What's New in Low-income Programming?
moderated by Elizabeth Chant
There is more attention now to low-income programming by utilities, and more new approaches being tried. Some are proven; others are new and innovative with results still be determined. Bring what you know, what you have tried, what you want to try, or your questions on what you might try to the table.
