General Session Preview: Perspectives on the Future at HPC17

After a day of in-depth workshops on the first day ofthe Association’s 2017 National Home Performance Conference & Trade Show, we will kick off day two with the General Session. This will be the one time we bring our entire audience of more than 1,500 (and growing) to learn and ponder together. We will start by welcoming you, talking aboutthe Association’s work, and getting into the conference’s nuts and bolts- including my personal highlight of the conference year- counting down our top 5 states in attendance as part of my own little David Letterman moment.
When the time comes for content, we are going to do something a bit different this year. Instead of one keynote or a single panel, we are offering three short, impactful talks on the future of our industry from a variety of perspectives.
We are thrilled to welcome Paula Glover, President and CEO of the American Association of Blacks (AABE) in Energy to our conference for the first time. Ms. Glover will be talking about what a diverse workforce means to a growing industry, as well as how residential energy efficiency can positively impact the lives of African Americans and other minorities. She will also talk about AABE’s work in encouraging students to pursue careers in energy related fields.
Frank Rapley, Senior Manager, EnergyRight Solutions for The Home from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) will also be giving a talk during the session. He will welcome us as our host sponsor and will talk about TVA’s innovative approaches and how he sees current market shifts impacting the future of our industry.
Anna Garcia from the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), our conference partner, will also welcome you to Nashville. In addition, they will be discussing various topics on what the future looks like from the WAP perspective, as well as the relationship between low-income weatherization and home performance.
Not only do these three topics represent dialogues that are happening across our industry, they tie directly into the content you will experience throughout the conference. Diversity, market transformation, innovation, the future of WAP, the connection between Home Performance and Weatherization - these topics are bound to impact your business and your career. It is our intention to get the ball rolling with our General Session, so that you are inspired to learn, contribute to the conversation, and ultimately, get the very most out of this conference.
I can’t wait to see you in Nashville! Learn more.
