Bob Krell has joined the staff of the Building Performance Association to serve as Publisher of Home Energy Magazine. He will be stewarding a new direction for the publication as it becomes the journal for BPA members.

Krell was the co-founder of IAQNET, LLC in 2013, and serves as the publisher of its Healthy Indoors Magazine, which is a free monthly publication that focuses on a variety of indoor environmental and sustainability topics for both industry and consumers.  That publication was designed to leverage the technology of online publishing, and it has continually pushed its digital platform to even live-stream broadcasts from industry events.

Bob Krell has presented at numerous industry conferences, appeared on national television and radio, produced educational videos and webinars, and is widely published on indoor environmental topics. He also moderates “The Healthy Indoors” discussion group on LinkedIn. His experience isn’t limited to the media world, though. He has been a certified/licensed consultant, contractor and trainer in the indoor environmental industry for the past 33-years, completing hundreds of successful projects throughout the US and abroad.  Krell also ran a building performance contracting division in his upstate New York company for 6-years where he held BPI certifications for BA, Envelope Specialist, Heating, and AC, NAHB Green Rater, and LEED-AP.  He gained some first-hand field experience with conducting home energy audits, air sealing, HVAC upgrades, and blown-in/SPF insulation applications.  The latter experience will likely come into play with his new position at BPA!

So, what’s in store for Home Energy?

Look for a staged rebranding of the magazine in the upcoming months and a host of innovative features for its online edition.  Krell’s background with video production and digital publishing will undoubtedly play a part in these efforts.  The planned emphasis on the digital publication will incorporate rich media to enhance HEM’s tradition of fine technical content.  Videos, live social media streams, and existing assets, like the Home Energy Pros Forum, will be included along with additional feature columns and departments geared towards the various industry sectors served by BPA.

The goal of this rebranding is to hone HEM’s new format into a valuable benefit of Building Performance Association membership, serving as one of the organization’s flagship informational and educational resources.  The new publication will serve as BPA’s technical journal/news outlet.  Healthy Indoors Magazine will remain as a Media Partner for the organization and become another BPA-member resource, as a free informational pass-along to their clients.

Advertisers will also see some great opportunities to reach both industry practitioners and end-consumers as HEM and Healthy Indoors team up to offer some special combined ad packages. This new publication advertising tandem will create an extended market reach and enhanced ROI for advertising programs!
